In one of the biggest bus accidents in the recent times, 44 passengers are feared killed as a private bus rolled over into river Tons, a tributary of river Yamuna, at Nerwa in Chaupal tehsil near here on Wednesday.
The ill fated bus was headed from Nerwa to Tiyuni in Uttrakhand. The death toll could increase as 56 people are said to be travelling in the bus. The accident took place in the morning hours.
A remote area, Nerwa is located along the border of Sirmaur and Shimla districts.
Police forces had pressed into rescue action at the time of filing of this report.
