Sanjeev Arora, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) newly elected MLA from Ludhiana West, took oath today at the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh. The oath was administered by Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhawan in a brief ceremony attended by AAP state president Aman Arora, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, AAP national leader Manish Sisodia, and other party dignitaries .
While Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was notably absent from the event, perhaps surprising viewers, Sanjeev Arora later paid a courtesy visit to Mann at his official residence. He was accompanied by his wife and family. Mann extended his congratulations and expressed confidence in Arora’s ability to serve the public effectively.
AAP’s Aman Arora praised Sanjeev’s “honest” credentials, thanking voters for their faith in AAP leadership. He affirmed that anyone linked to corruption or the drug trade would face consequences under their governance.
Arora secured his seat in the June 19 bypoll with 35,179 votes, defeating Congress’s Bharat Bhushan Ashu by about 10,637 votes. His swearing-in vacated his Rajya Sabha position, which AAP is expected to fill soon
