Daily power cut report mandatory: Anil Vij

Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij has directed officials of the Energy Department to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the state and mandated the submission of daily power outage reports to his office.

In a stern warning, Vij said that any officer found negligent in complying with these instructions will face strict disciplinary action, adding, “Anil Vij does not spare negligent officers or employees.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi about electricity concerns during the summer season, Vij emphasized that each Superintending Engineer (SE) must send a detailed daily report citing any power cuts in their jurisdiction, reasons behind them, and duration of the outage.

These reports must be routed through the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Energy Department.

State Power Demand of 16,000 MW Fully Met: Vij

Vij assured that Haryana’s peak power demand of 16,000 megawatts has already been met through state-owned generation units and long-term procurement agreements. “There is no shortage of electricity in Haryana,” he said.

Power Infrastructure Strengthening Ordered

The Energy Minister also issued instructions for the augmentation of all under-capacity power transformers, stating that areas with insufficient capacity must have their transformers replaced or upgraded immediately.

He noted that transformer banks have been created in all electricity circles to enable quick replacements and prevent prolonged outages.

Zero Tolerance for Public Harassment

Highlighting his no-compromise approach, Vij said, “I do not spare officers who unnecessarily trouble the public.” Citing a recent incident, he mentioned the suspension of a Junior Engineer (JE) in Ambala who failed to replace a faulty transformer for over two weeks.

He added that adequate staff and vehicles must be deployed to ensure immediate action in case of transformer faults.

“The people of Haryana know that I do not forgive negligence. Every official must ensure smooth electricity supply,” Vij concluded, reaffirming that all officials had been briefed in a recent high-level meeting in Chandigarh.
