Sudhir Suri, President of Shiv Sena Taksali got arrested for his viral video. He is seen to say some derogatory against women in video after which he was highly condemned by Indian and Overseas people. Punjab Police arrested him after chasing him for about 1300 km from Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
11 personnel comprised two teams of Punjab Police from Amritsar (Rural) nabbed Suri on Sunday says DGP Punjab Dinkar Gupta.
Gupta exerted that there is no nonsense tolerance when it comes to women. No one in Punjab, be it a politician, celebrity or anyone is allowed to speak ill against any woman on social media platforms. Though Suri claimed that this defamatory video is a conspiracy against him as someone has done voiceover on his video.
The DGP said that on July 8, after Suri’s derogatory first video went viral, Jandiala Police, Amritsar (Rural) had booked Suri in criminal case FIR no. 208 u/s 153-a, 354A, 509 IPC and 67 IT Act. The DGP said he ordered a massive manhunt against the suspect through Amritsar (Rural) Police.
We had directed Punjab Bureau of Investigation to get the clip examined though the Forensic Science Laboratory at the earliest. As Suri was fearing arrest, this is why he fled to Indore, said the DGP after his arrest from Madhya Pradesh.
The DGP said he spoke to Vivek Johri, Madhya Pradesh DGP, at the time of the dispatch of the two police teams consisting of DSP Harish Behl (Crimes against women), 2 SIs, 3 ASIs and 5 constables, were dispatched for arresting Suri.
Punjab Police is now moving for bail cancellation requests before the concerned Judicial courts in cases where Suri has already been bailed out earlier.
