200 Girls Wearing Pink Turbans Come Together To Unite & Connect with Other Women

On International Women’s Day, as many as 200 girl students from various city colleges, driven by a strong sense of purpose and action came together to create an inclusive community of women.The girls, all donned in Pink Turbans, pledged to empower not only themselves but other women as well and to continue their efforts and conversations all along through volunteering and social action. An endeavor, by Yuvsatta (an NGO), girl students from DevS amaj College of Education, Sector 36B, Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45B and Government Home Science College, Sector 45B joined forces to make this effort as big as possible.

Lending her support to the Pink Turban campaign and community, Agnese Dhillon, Principal, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 said that“Women of the world have waited for centuries to get their due rights and status in the society. Now is the time to come together and form a strong community of women which is inclusive of as many voices as possible needed to empower women across the globe”.

Speaking on the occasion, Pramod Sharma, Coordinator of Yuvsatta said, “Turbans are a symbol of honor and respect. Girls wearing a turban is particularly meaningful because it’s time that each one of us and more importantly women themselves embrace the idea of empowerment and encourage each other to claim their rightful honor and respect.”

Yashika Goyal, Council President of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 45 shared that there is a great need to increase awareness about gender parity in the society. Voicing her views, Dr. Richa Chhibber, a professor at Dev Samaj College of Education added, “It’s very important to provide a safe, nurturing and enabling environment to women for them to realize their full potential.”

Dr. Sudha Katyal, Prinicipal of Government Home Science College shared that she very strongly feels of ‘Proud to be a Women’ and as a head of girls College, she tries her best to instill this confidence and dignity in womanhood among her students as well.
